Covered vs Uncovered RV Storage in Vero Beach, FL (Complete Guide)

If you own an RV in Vero Beach, you'll eventually face this decision: pay more for covered storage, or save money and park it in the open. Florida makes the call sharper than it is in milder climates — sun, humidity, and hurricane season all work faster on an RV's roof, seals, and paint here than they do most other places.

Covered vs uncovered RV storage in Vero Beach - here's what separates the two options, what it costs, and which one makes sense for your situation.

What Florida does to an uncovered RV

Leave an RV parked outside for a season and you'll start to see it: sun-faded decals, a roof drying out faster than it should, tires weathering even when the RV never moves, rubber seals going brittle sooner than the manual promises. None of that happens overnight, and plenty of owners store uncovered for years without major issues — but it's cumulative, and it's the tradeoff for the lower rate.

What covered storage actually buys you

A roof overhead cuts direct UV exposure, keeps rain off, and knocks several degrees off the interior heat buildup that bakes upholstery and electronics during a Vero Beach summer. In practice, that tends to mean a roof and seals that last longer, less frequent washing and detailing, and graphics that hold their color longer. It's not a guarantee against wear — it's a slower rate of it.

What it actually costs

Five facilities in the Vero Beach area now offer covered RV parking — up from four as of our last review, after a new CubeSmart location opened on 19th Lane. Using 12-month trailing average rates collected in July 2026, except where noted:

  • CubeSmart Self Storage (901 20th St) — the least expensive option for smaller and mid-size spaces: roughly $139/month for smaller spaces, $200 for medium, $358 for larger spaces

  • CubeSmart Self Storage (9425 19th Lane) — newly opened, offering a single 40-ft covered space rated for Class A RVs, boats, and trailers at approximately $176/month.*

  • Extra Space Storage (Fort Pierce) — around $269/month for large covered parking

  • Spacebox Storage (Vero Beach) — around $318/month for extra-large covered spaces

  • Condev RV & Boat Storage (Vero Beach) — the highest rates in the market: roughly $247 for medium, $375 for large, $425 for extra-large

The real range is $139 to $425 a month, and vehicle size drives the price more than which facility you choose — though the 19th Lane location is a clear exception at the large end, worth a specific look if you're storing something big. Uncovered spots typically run well below the low end of that range. For the full facility-by-facility breakdown, see our covered RV storage pricing guide.

Who covered storage is actually worth it for

Covered storage earns its cost for RVs that sit for months at a stretch rather than getting used every few weeks — the sun damage it prevents is a function of hours exposed, not calendar time. It's also the stronger call for newer coaches, Class A motorhomes, and anything with graphics or a roof system you'd rather not replace early. If you tow out every other weekend, most of what covered storage protects against never has time to do damage.

Who's fine going uncovered

If your RV is older, you use it often, or you only need storage for a short stretch, uncovered parking is a reasonable, cheaper choice — not a compromise. Covered spots remain the scarcer inventory in this market too: even with the new 19th Lane location, that's still only five local facilities offering it at all.

Timing matters more than people expect

Summer is the slow season for RV storage in Vero Beach, since a lot of owners are actually out traveling — which makes it the best time to shop, since higher vacancy tends to push rates down. Demand climbs again in fall as seasonal residents return, so if you're heading north for the summer and will need a space when you get back, reserve before you leave rather than after.

Covered vs uncovered RV storage: before you rent

A few questions worth asking any facility, covered or not: is power available at the space, are there size restrictions, what are the access hours, is the lot staffed or unmanned, and are there fees beyond the monthly rent. If you're specifically considering the new 19th Lane location for its price, it's worth asking about review history and how long they've been operating — it's a newer, less-proven facility compared to the others on this list. It's also worth driving out to look at the actual space — photos don't tell you much about the surrounding lot, security, or how easy the space is to maneuver into.

The short version

If your RV is going to sit for a while, or it's new enough that a sun-baked roof and faded graphics would actually bother you, covered storage is worth the extra $100–$300 a month. If you're storing something large — a Class A, a bigger boat, a trailer — get a quote from the new 19th Lane CubeSmart location specifically, since its pricing currently undercuts the rest of the market by a wide margin at that size. If you're in and out of it regularly or driving something older, save the money — uncovered will do the job.

CubeSmart's downtown location remains the strongest all-around option across a full range of sizes, with 120V power at each covered space and climate-controlled units on site for gear that doesn't need to sit outside at all. Check current pricing and availability.
